Creating your first entry in Lifelight is the beginning of your personal journey. There's no right or wrong way to start - just share what's on your mind or in your heart. Here's everything you need to know to capture your first memory.

Starting Simple

The Text Entry

At the bottom of the Journal tab, you'll see a welcoming prompt: "What's happening today?"

Simply:

  1. Tap the text field
  2. Type anything - a thought, feeling, or observation
  3. Press the submit button or hit return

That's it! Your first memory is now part of your story.

What to Write About

Not sure where to start? Here are some ideas:

  • How you're feeling right now
  • Something that happened today
  • A goal or intention you have
  • Gratitude for something in your life
  • A random thought that crossed your mind

Remember: There's no minimum length. A single sentence is perfectly fine.

Adding Richness to Your Memories

๐Ÿ“ธ Include Photos

Make your entries more vivid:

  1. Tap the + button next to the text field
  2. Choose Photo Album to select existing photos
  3. Choose Take Photo to capture the moment
  4. Add multiple photos to tell a complete story

Pro tip: When you add photos without text, look for the viewfinder icon. Tap it and Lifelight's AI will automatically describe your photos, creating a journal entry from your visual memories.

๐ŸŽค Voice Recording

Sometimes it's easier to speak than type:

  1. Tap the waveform icon next to the text input
  2. Speak naturally - share your thoughts out loud
  3. Lifelight converts your speech to text
  4. Review and edit if needed before saving

๐ŸŽต Add Context

The + button reveals more options to enrich your memories:

  • Music - Songs that moved you
  • Movies - Films you watched
  • Books - What you're reading
  • Workouts - Exercise activities
  • Podcasts - Episodes you enjoyed
  • Web Links - Interesting articles

Understanding Mood Detection

As you write, Lifelight automatically detects your emotional tone:

  • Warm colors indicate happy moods
  • Cool colors suggest sadder feelings
  • Balanced colors show neutral emotions

You'll see this reflected in real-time as you type. Don't worry about "gaming" the system - just be authentic, and Lifelight will understand.

Your Entry Becomes a Leaf

Once you submit your entry, something magical happens:

  1. Your memory is saved to your journal
  2. It becomes a leaf on your Memory Vine
  3. The vine begins to grow with each new memory
  4. After 5 entries, your first flower may bloom
  5. At 25 entries, you'll harvest your first fruit
